FROM WORK PLACEMENT TO FULL-TIME APPRENTICESHIP.

Bradley Manufacturing produces springs, wire forms, and pressed components - specialising in sheet metal fabrication and finishing services, including CNC manufacturing, laser cutting, punching, bending and forming, automated powder coating, and sublimation printing. The third-generation family company also has product testing and electrical assembly capabilities and has recently branched out into making LED light fittings.

The firm’s 146,000sq. ft state-of-the-art factory in Chadderton, Oldham is home to several engineering apprentices who are currently learning about the business.

When Corey left high school, he wanted to do something practical. After a little while of looking at options, Corey spoke to one of his friends who is also a former Rochdale Training Apprentice Academy graduate who gave Corey all the information he needed to apply.

Once he had applied, Corey attended an initial interview with Recruitment Officer Nathan Finn where he felt like Rochdale Training would be a good match for him so once he was offered a place on the Apprentice Academy course, he promptly accepted.

Corey then graduated from the Apprentice academy after 16 weeks of attending the course, 2 of those weeks being his work placement with Bradley’s Manufacturing. Prior to starting his work placement, Corey was eager to start the role as he had researched the company in depth and had figured out how he would get there and home with various members of his family. When Corey first met Tony Holden, Apprentice Mentor at Bradley’s, Tony was already impressed with the amount of Corey’s research and offered him his work experience on the spot.

Tony Holden, Workshop Supervisor and Apprentice Mentor of Bradley’s Manufacturing said “Corey spoke well, portrayed a lot of confidence and had researched the company to an impressive extent. He has come out of his shell a lot more and is starting to fit in well with the rest of the team.”

Corey Seery, Apprentice Academy Graduate, now a full-time Apprentice at Bradley’s Manufacturing said “I found the Apprentice Academy really good and helpful to develop my skills and confidence. If I had stuck with college it would have taken me two years and then I would have had to find an Apprenticeship or work, whilst going through the Academy I have found an Apprenticeship that once completed, will lead me into a full-time position.”
