Apprentice Employer Spotlight: Tony Holden (Bradley’s Manufacturing Ltd)

Q&A with Apprentice Employer, Tony from Bradley Manufacturing Ltd

Why did you choose to hire Apprentices?

We chose to hire Apprentices because of the skills gap we had in our company, people are getting older, and we like to train from within so we can teach people Bradley’s way, making sure candidates are working correctly to fit in with our company's way of working.

What made you want to continue to hire Apprentices?

Here at Bradley’s, we have always had a good relationship with Rochdale Training, I was an Apprentice many years ago and about 99% of the workforce have at some point been an Apprentice. All staff members have started from the bottom, working their way up, I feel that Apprenticeships are a great way to train and progress within not only our company but the sector in general.

Why did you choose Rochdale Training as the Training Provider?

We chose Rochdale Training because of the facilities that are on offer for our Apprentices to learn, while they are not here in the company. Rochdale Training communicates with us well, we always have a mutual understanding and we’ve never had any issues. The Apprentices get amazing training, and it is flexible for us as a company.

How would you describe Rochdale Training as a Training/Apprenticeship provider?

I feel that Rochdale Training is really good! We have used Rochdale Training for a long time now and we intend to keep on using them as we’ve had no issues with them whatsoever so we wouldn’t consider using anyone else.

Would you recommend hiring Apprentices for other businesses/companies?

Yes definitely, because you can train people how to work for you and your business, and if they are doing something wrong you can highlight the issue and give guidance to Apprentices on how to improve.

Apprentice Spotlight: Lucy (Engineer)

Q&A with Apprentice Engineer, Lucy from Bradley Manufacturing Ltd

What did you do before an Apprenticeship?

I started A-Levels in Psychology, Criminology, and Public Services. I decided to change my career path and joined Rochdale Training to do an Apprenticeship in Engineering in September 2023. I wanted something more hands-on and practical based.

Where do you work?

I work at Bradley Manufacturing in Oldham. They make lots of different engineered products for businesses across the UK. I chose my Apprenticeship at Bradley’s because I wanted to work at a company where I could learn valuable skills that would benefit my future career in Engineering.

What’s it like working in a team?

The team is great and always includes me and I have a lot of role models/mentors to help me through daily activities.

What are your goals for the future?

My goals for the future are to continue progressing in the Engineering sector to ensure a successful career for myself.
