Fire sprinkler systems rely on strong, leak-free piping networks that must meet strict safety standards. Welding is commonly used in sprinkler pipe fabrication and installation, particularly for steel systems in commercial and industrial buildings.

£15,600.00 a year

The pay may be negotiated and may rise after a probation period has been successfully completed.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Understanding engineering drawings, Tig & mig welding, measuring the pipe using a tape measure accurately, checking quality of your welds before sending to the next process, spotting any defects and ensuring they are patched up, ensuring there is no pinholes, undercuts or porosity and grinding welds when required.

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

The candidate will attend Rochdale training one day per week on a day release to complete the apprenticeship course.

Essential qualifications

  • Maths and English grade 4 or above
