This is your chance to kick-start a career in engineering with hands-on learning, expert support and a clear route into an apprenticeship or job 

 

What is it?
A 12–16 week Level 3 Advanced Engineering programme for 16–18 year olds, delivered by Rochdale Training. You’ll get a practical introduction to engineering before choosing a specialist pathway — perfect if you want to try engineering before committing long-term.

 

Who it’s for:

  • Want a taster before a full apprenticeship

  • Prefer hands-on, real-workplace learning

  • Need extra support to build confidence

  • Want a clear progression into work or an apprenticeship

 

What you’ll learn 
Core Level 3 engineering unit covering:

  • Fitting

  • Fabrication

  • Electrical

  • Machining

Then you’ll specialise in one area with an additional Level 3 unit, building skills employers actually want.

 

More than just skills 
You’ll also develop:

  • Professional behaviour, attendance & timekeeping

  • Teamwork, communication & confidence

  • Goal setting, resilience & independence

  • CV writing & interview prep

  • Understanding of career pathways

  • Designed for NEET learners

  • Optional English & Maths, Mental Health & Wellbeing, and tailored support

 

What’s next? 
Support to progress into an engineering apprenticeship or job.
A shorter, focused stepping stone before committing to a 4-year apprenticeship.
