Engineering Fitter Apprentice

Summary

As a fitter, you'll install components, major equipment, and machinery This will involve detailed and precise alignment techniques with minimum tolerance to demonstrate a successful build. You will be trained to assemble, install and maintain complex machinery, learn to read engineering drawings, and to use a wide range of tools.

Annual wage

£8 per hour

The pay may be negotiated and may rise after a probation period has been successfully completed.

Full time 39 hours per week with overtime available but not guaranteed. Mon - Thurs 7:15am - 4:15pm & Fri 7:15am – 12:15pm. 45 minute break.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting colleagues with product machining and assembly and testing.
  • Work enthusiastically to accept the necessary training required in all areas.
  • Producing components using a range of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drilling machines and grinding. All manual machines.
  • To gain familiarity with the range of company products and processes
  • To work safely at all times, following all company safety rules and maintaining a tidy work area. The wearing of appropriate PPE at all times is essential.

On qualifying the position will include servicing and repairing clients’ equipment, from heavy plant machinery to other general mechanical work. Working on site and on occasion as required off site at customer premises, located worldwide

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 3 or above) Essential
GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4 or above) Essential

Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

All applicants would be expected or predicted to have minimum level 4 or above in in Maths, English Language and Science, however it is also desirable to have A level Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry. You should also be able to demonstrate a passion for electrical electronic engineering, with a practical aptitude together with good communication, teamworking, problem-solving and an extremely proactive approach to understand technical information. The successful Apprentices will have an enthusiastic approach to and a genuine interest in Engineering, Electronics and Mechanical systems and be willing to work and study hard. In return, Upturn Enterprise Ltd are offering a salary package which includes 33 days holiday, inclusive of statutory bank holidays, cycle to work scheme, free car parking and a pension scheme.
