Job Overview
Rochdale Training Association has been delivering high-quality, results-focused training for nearly 60 years. Working with learners at all levels and employers across the North West, we are proud to support individuals in developing the skills and confidence needed for successful careers.
We are seeking to appoint a passionate and knowledgeable Electrical Tutor/Assessor to join our Electrical Department, supporting learners working towards careers in electrical installation and maintenance.
Main Purpose of the Role
To deliver engaging training, assessment and support to learners working towards electrical qualifications and apprenticeship standards. This includes both practical workshop delivery and classroom-based teaching across electrical installation and maintenance disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver training and assessment in a range of electrical competencies, including:
- Electrical installation
- Electrical maintenance and fault finding
- Inspection, testing and certification
- Deliver both practical and theory-based sessions to support learner development
- Teach underpinning knowledge, including:
- Electrical principles
- Wiring regulations (e.g. BS 7671)
- Health and safety practices
- Safe isolation procedures
- Support learners in developing practical skills such as:
- Installation of wiring systems
- Testing and inspection techniques
- Use of electrical tools and test equipment
- Complete all awarding body documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Motivate and support learners to build confidence and achieve competence in all required tasks
- Monitor learner progress, behaviours and attendance
- Promote Equality & Diversity, British Values and a positive learning culture
- Maintain a strong commitment to safeguarding and learner welfare
- Develop and maintain engaging and innovative training resources
- Embed Functional Skills (Maths and English) into delivery
- Use e-portfolio systems and contribute to the organisation’s VLE
- Prepare learners for End Point Assessment (EPA)
- Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times within the workshop and classroom
Knowledge and Experience
- Electrical apprenticeship or relevant industry qualification
- Strong occupational competency in:
- Electrical installation
- Electrical maintenance and fault diagnosis
- Minimum of 3 years’ industry experience
- Up-to-date knowledge of current electrical regulations and industry practices
- Teaching or assessing qualification (or willingness to work towards)
Complexity and Creativity
- Develop effective delivery strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Support learners to successfully achieve Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications
- Create engaging learning materials and practical activities
- Embed Maths and English into vocational delivery
- Provide additional support and stretch activities to enhance learner confidence and capability
Operational Responsibility
- Responsibility for learners within the Electrical Department
- Maintain a safe, organised and industry-relevant training environment
- Support the upkeep of tools, equipment and workshop facilities
Working Week
Monday to Friday
- Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30
- Friday: 08:00 – 15:30
