An exciting opportunity to join the friendly team at Middleton Nursery School as an Early Years Practitioner Apprentice. You will support children's learning, care and development whilst completing a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship.

Annual wage

£15,600.00 a year

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As an Early Years Practitioner Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced practitioners to provide high-quality care and education for young children within a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment.

You will learn how to support children's development through play, promote positive relationships and help create exciting learning opportunities that enable every child to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting children's learning through planned play activities and experiences.
  • Assisting with the preparation of engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments.
  • Supporting children's personal, social, emotional and physical development.
  • Encouraging children's communication, language and independence.
  • Supervising children during play, mealtimes and outdoor activities.
  • Helping children develop confidence, curiosity and positive relationships.
  • Assisting with personal care routines where appropriate.
  • Observing children's progress and contributing to learning records.
  • Working closely with colleagues to provide high-quality care and education.
  • Building positive relationships with parents and carers.
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene, health and safety throughout the nursery.
  • Following safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
  • Supporting inclusive practice to ensure every child can achieve their potential.
  • Participating in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Carrying out general nursery duties as required.

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training course

Early Years Practitioner – Level 2

Your training plan

You will complete the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship.

Your apprenticeship will include:

  • Child development from birth to five years.
  • Supporting children's learning through play.
  • Safeguarding and child protection.
  • Health, safety and wellbeing.
  • The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Supporting children's communication and language.
  • Promoting positive behaviour.
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Building positive relationships with children and families.
  • Professional practice within an Early Years setting.
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required).
  • End Point Assessment.

You will receive ongoing support from Rochdale Training alongside experienced staff at Middleton Nursery School.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are desirable; Functional Skills support will be provided if required.
  • A genuine interest in working with young children.
  • No previous childcare experience is necessary, although experience through volunteering or work experience would be beneficial.
