Purpose of the Role

The Progression Officer is a key member of the team, responsible for delivering impactful career advice, tracking learner progress, and ensuring our learners are fully supported to upskill and access meaningful employment or further training.

The role requires a proactive and empathetic professional who understands the importance of social mobility and thrives in a community-focused, learner-first environment. You will engage with a wide range of stakeholders—from learners and employers to internal teams and partner agencies—to ensure learners succeed during and after their programmes with us.

 

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver high-quality careers advice, Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG), and personalised progression planning to learners.

- Support learners with CV writing, interview techniques, and job application processes.

- Provide pastoral and aftercare support for up to six months following course completion.

- Track where learners progress to including employment, further training, or volunteering destinations.

- Compile accurate, evidence-based reports to meet internal KPIs and external funding requirements

- Build positive working relationships with learners, employers, tutors, mentors, and work-based supervisors.

- Engage with referral agencies and partner organisations to support learner pathways.

- Attend networking and partnership events to develop new opportunities.

- Coordinate and deliver jobs clubs to support people into work.

-Attend careers fairs and open evenings.

 

Essential Experience

- Experience sourcing and securing work experience, interviews and employment opportunities.

- Experience in supporting others

- Experience using digital platforms for case management and tracking.

- Knowledge of health and safety practices.

- Strong stakeholder management, with the ability to negotiate and influence employers.

 

Desirable Experience

- Experience developing individual progression plans to support people into employment.

- Proven record of providing high-quality IAG to both learners and employers.

- Careers Guidance or IAG qualification (minimum Level 2 or willingness to work towards).

- Knowledge of relevant education and safeguarding policies.

- Experience coordinating and delivering learner-focused events/workshops.

Other Requirements

- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.

- Ability to travel across delivery sites and employer locations.

- Willingness to work flexibly, including several open evenings throughout the year.

 

Location

Fishwick Street, Rochdale, OL165NA (With travel around the surrounding areas)

Salary Band

£25,000- 27,000 + Commission (subject to experience)

Contract Type

Full-time, Permanent

Hours

Mon- Thurs (09:00-17:30) Friday (09:00-16:30)
