This Skills Bootcamp in Maintenance is aimed at those looking to upskill the workforce. We have successfully worked with employers to upskill their workforce over the last 2 years under the Skills Bootcamp provision. The Skills Bootcamp in Welding has been designed in partnership with engineering employers across Greater Manchester and is for people who wish to progress within their job roles and develop their welding skills.

This training has been made possible thanks to Greater Manchester Combined Authority securing funding to deliver Skills Bootcamps, which form part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Programme, helping everybody gain skills for life. Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills.

1. Course Details:

A bespoke programme designed for those preparing to work in the Welding & Fabrication industry

  • Understanding and interpreting Engineering information
  • Engineering materials
  • Welding processes including MIG or TIG
  • Safe use of power tools in a workshop environment
  • H&S awareness
  • Understanding welding consumables
  • Completing welds in various positions and joints

The training is delivered over 12 weeks (1 day per week).

This programme requires an employer contribution towards the training. However, Rochdale Training will offset this cost giving you £350 worth of Health and Safety Training to each employer who commits to upskilling their workforce with this programme.

2. Benefits:

  • Upskilled workforce
  • Achieve accredited qualifications
  • One-to-one support from the tutor/mentor to progress within their current role.
  • All PPE is provided by Rochdale Training on a loan basis.

3. Entry Requirements:

  • Candidates must be 19+
  • Candidates must live or work within Greater Manchester
  • You must be committed for the full duration of the course at Rochdale Training
  • Not already enrolled on any other funded course
