Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
As a Tool Making Engineering Apprentice, you’ll work as part of our specialist team manufacturing and maintaining high-precision tools, dies, and fixtures. You'll be trained to use both traditional and CNC machines in a hands-on engineering environment. Duties will include:
- Assisting with the manufacture and maintenance of bespoke tooling and jigs
- Operating manual machines such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines
- Learning to use CNC machinery and read technical engineering drawings
- Measuring components using micrometers, verniers, and other precision tools
- Working with tool steels, alloys, and other materials
- Supporting the repair, modification, and sharpening of tooling
- Following health and safety procedures at all times
- Recording tasks and maintaining documentation accurately
