Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As a Tool Making Engineering Apprentice, you’ll work as part of our specialist team manufacturing and maintaining high-precision tools, dies, and fixtures. You'll be trained to use both traditional and CNC machines in a hands-on engineering environment. Duties will include:

Assisting with the manufacture and maintenance of bespoke tooling and jigs
Operating manual machines such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines
Learning to use CNC machinery and read technical engineering drawings
Measuring components using micrometers, verniers, and other precision tools
Working with tool steels, alloys, and other materials
Supporting the repair, modification, and sharpening of tooling
Following health and safety procedures at all times
Recording tasks and maintaining documentation accurately
