Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Little Gems is a community based private nursery that provides a caring, stimulating, learning environment to meet your child’s educational and social needs.
KYP are looking for a child care apprenticeship to join our Little Gems Nursery team. This exciting role will expect to see you planning and providing programme of activities (play, education and care) on a daily basis to ensure that each child develops to his/her full potential and to monitor & develop the programme to meet the changing needs of the children.
You will incorporate in the daily activities the areas of learning as appropriate to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and to help to prepare the children for mainstream infant schools. You will have passion, boundless energy, enthusiasm and a desire to maintain the highest standards in supporting children and ensuring they achieve.
As a Nursery Practitioner you will:
- Work in partnership with parents, consulting and sharing information with them about the needs and progress of their child,
- To maintain daily registers and up-to-date children’s development records.
- To be responsible for caring for the needs of each child in the Nursery and to ensure that effective provision is made to meet the emotional, physical, educational and social needs of each child in order to meet their full potential.
- To assist senior staff to administer, co-ordinate, develop, and manage the provision of Childcare services and to ensure all services are carried out in accordance with the OFSTED standards for Early Years.

About this company
Little Gems Nursery a safe, caring and stimulating environment for young children between the ages of 5 months- 5 years (2-4 years). We provide comprehensive care from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (4.00pm) throughout the year (term time only),with only brief exceptions for Bank Holidays and Christmas. Our team is made up of qualified and experienced nursery practitioners who will create a fun welcoming environment to ensure your child feels safe and happy.
