Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Greet patients and visitors in a polite and professional manner, directing them as required.
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to routine enquiries.
  • Schedule and manage patient appointments using clinical software.
  • Maintain and update patient records accurately and confidentially.
  • Support the processing of repeat prescriptions and incoming/outgoing correspondence.
  • Assist with data entry, filing, scanning, and archiving of documents.
  • Provide general administrative support to the practice team, including GPs, nurses, and reception staff.
  • Assist in the organisation of meetings and practice events.
  • Uphold confidentiality and data protection policies at all times.

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
