Alanya Paul

Alanya Paul

Job Title: Engineering Administrator

Apprenticeship: Business Admin Level 2, Business Admin Level 3

Alanya is responsible for supporting the day to day running of the Engineering department and is the go-to contact for any issues for staff members, learners, and employers. Alanya started her journey with us here at Rochdale Training as a level 2 Apprentice and has progressed onto her Level 3 Business Administration qualification.

Alanya chose an Apprenticeship because she loved the idea that she could earn while she learnt. Most people that she knew went to university, but she didn’t just want to follow the crowd. When she came into RTA, the Recruitment Officer gave guidance and supported her with the decision to do a Business Admin Apprenticeship. She liked the idea of variety in the job role, with no day being the same. She is also very creative, so is getting involved in displays around the building and working with the Marketing Department. In the small-time she has worked here at RTA, she has learnt essential skills for her job role and would certainly recommend an Apprenticeship to other people.

Lee Shackleton

Lee Shackleton

Job Title: Contracts Manager

Apprenticeship: Customer Service Level 2, Admin Level 3, Management Level 5

Lee started his Apprenticeship here at Rochdale Training 17 years ago and has gone from the Apprentice Receptionist to one of the senior leaders. Throughout his time here, he has had many roles and has experienced many parts of the business. From Reception, helping with all IT issues, to coordinating and reporting the data, Rochdale Training must pass on to Government services.

Back when Lee first applied to Rochdale Training it was through the support of his family that solidified his choice of an Apprenticeship, he saw RTA’s advert in the paper and decided it would be worth a try to come in and interview. He knew that the Apprenticeship was ideal as he didn’t really have an interest in University, but was sure he wanted a qualification. The role at Rochdale Training interested him because he could see the potential opportunities within the training provider with direct access to tutors that would be teaching him on a day-to-day basis.

Lee feels that all his skills have increased due to the Apprenticeship Programmes that he has completed. He’s been able to approach any new situation with the skills he’s learnt.

Lee has stated that he would recommend the Apprentice programme to anybody, as it has been a brilliant career progression for him. From working in reception to senior manager in the 17 years he’s worked here.

Apprenticeship: Business Admin Level 2

Amelia joined us in November 2019. She quickly picked up all aspects of her job role and was one of the first faces you saw if you come into Rochdale Training. In the short time she has worked in the Marketing Department, she has supported numerous career events, passing on her Apprenticeship knowledge to the next generation.

Amelia left school and thought that college was the best idea. Leanne Glynn

Job Title: Trainee Traineeship Tutor

Apprenticeship: Business Admin Level 2, Business Admin Level 3, Business Admin Level 4

Leanne started her Apprenticeship journey working in the reception department here at Rochdale Training, and quickly became a valued member of Rochdale Training's team. Following on from completing her Level 2 qualification in Business Administration, she applied for a full-time position within the Business Admin department and has become an essential member of the team responsible for the day to day running of the department. Recently, Leanne has started her new role as a Traineeship Tutor, supporting candidates on their journey to progress onto an Apprenticeship.

Leanne applied for a role and started at Rochdale Training in April 2017 as the Receptionist. Whilst in Reception she completed her Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship and learnt many new skills while completing this which included: Communication, time management and organisation skills. After staying in Reception for 18 months, she progressed to the Business Department to complete her Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration, which she passed with a Distinction. Following on from this success, she completed her Level 4 Diploma in Business Administration. While completing this Apprenticeship, she felt she was constantly looking back how far she had come from the shy girl who walked into Rochdale Training one day for an apprenticeship, to somebody who wanted to excel in everything she put my mind too. After completing her Level 4 qualification, she decided she wanted to go further and progress her skills more and challenge herself into taking on a Tutor role. At Rochdale Training we deliver a Traineeship course for 16–18-year-olds which Leanne is now teaching.
