SCAFFOLD AWARENESS INCLUDING SECURING LADDERS AND SAFE USE OF GIN WHEELS

Who is this course aimed at?

Personnel required to oversee work on or around scaffolding should receive awareness relating to the safe use and pre use checks of scaffold structures.

Course Content:

  • Health & Safety legislation
  • Codes of practice
  • Risk assessment
  • Scaffold components
  • Lifting equipment selection and securing loads
  • Access points and selection of access equipment for scaffolds
  • Securing of ladders to access points

Aims and Objectives of the course:

Operatives and managers should gain the necessary competence to apply. 

Attendees should complete the training having gained awareness in the correct procedure for:

  • Typical faults in scaffolding strutures
  • Accessing scaffold structures and securing ladders
  • Egress from scaffold structures
  • Safe working practices on platforms
  • Material Handling and storage including the safe use of gin wheels
  • Inspection procedures, reports and record keeping requirements

Method:

Lecture, mixed media with a booklet handout, hands on components followed  by a scaffold walk around.

Duration:

1 Day

Achievement: 

A 3 year certificate of training in Scaffold Awareness Including Ladders and Safe use of Gin Wheels

Delegate experience: 

A working knowledge of scaffolding would be an advantage but is not essential 

PPE required: 

Gloves, Hardhat and boots for handling scaffold equipment onsite
