She had an excellent attitude to her qualifications, especially apparent when working on the advanced award. She has also gained promotion at work and is a pleasure to work with.”

According to Assessor Dave Hilton, “To be considered for this award an apprentice must be reasonably intelligent with a mechanical aptitude, have an interest in engineering and very importantly, a friendly and co-operative attitude. Kieren Douglas of John Bradley Springs won this year’s award because he is the apprentice that scores most highly in all these aspects. Well done Kieren.”

The 2006 Engineering Apprentice of the Year was Ian Lord of Taylor Engineering Plastics

Eddie Moore, Training Officer commented, “This year 19 learners completed their engineering apprenticeship with us, which began over 4 years ago. To get this far, the apprentices have had to show 100% commitment and hard work and Ian Lord of Taylor Engineering Plastics won this award because in addition to that, he consistently produced work of a very high standard. He’s a credit to himself and to his company.”

The 2006 Adult Learner of the Year was Peter Warburton of Ryalux

Lead Assessor Michelle Greenwood said, “Peter has successfully achieved the Certificate of Team Leading but during his studies he also had lots on at home as his wife had a baby. Nevertheless, he attended class whilst on paternity leave and holidays and showed great commitment and enthusiasm throughout the qualification.”
