The current Advanced Apprentice of the Year
is Nicola Djamalis of Rochdale Council

Nicola Djamalis receiving her award from Vivien Carter with lead assessor Michelle Greenwood
Nicola Djamalis was on Rochdale Council’s Apprenticeship Scheme (CATS) which provides work and training in several Council departments. Michelle Greenwood comments, “At the start of the scheme Nicola was very shy, lacking in assertiveness and frightened of giving an opinion. Yet through her apprenticeship she grew in confidence and at the end became the spokesperson for the group. She often helped the others with their training but what impressed us particularly was how she took ownership of her training and took on work at the Council to provide evidence for her qualification. Nicola is a deserved winner." Nicola has now chosen to study full-time for a Psychology degree at university in Manchester.
The current Plumbing Apprentice of the Year
is Gareth Ellison of M W Site Services

Gareth Ellison receiving his award from Vivien Carter with Anthony Burke, plumbing tutor
Gareth who works for M W Site Services has been a plumbing apprentice for 2 years with Rochdale Training. Anthony Burke, tutor in plumbing, heating and gas, commented: “Gareth won Rochdale Training’s first ever plumbing apprentice award because of his dedication to his training and his motivation to complete his tasks. Even though he was working away with his company a great deal of the time, he still kept in touch with me by phone, email and 1-2-1 visits ensuring he kept up with his course work and it was all completed on time. He definitely earned this award.” Gareth is now continuing onto his advanced apprenticeship working in the new Gas centre at Fishwick Street.
