Information for employers
For around 40 years, Rochdale Training has produced some of the best apprentices in the area, many of whom are now in significant and contributory positions within local companies - people such as Graham Smith, Operations Director at Granada Material Handling Services. So whether you’re considering taking on an apprentice for the first time or continuing a company policy of regular recruitment, Rochdale Training is the company to talk to.
Recruitment
We recruit and test all our apprentices and will provide a short list of candidates for you to make the final selection. This allows you to pick the best person for your company safe in the knowledge the young person has passed our rigorous selection process.
Training
All necessary training takes place at our own training centre in Rochdale. This gives apprentices first-hand experience using the equipment they will use in-company. The centre also contains a number of studyrooms where theoretical knowledge can be learnt alongside the traditional administrative skills.
Apprentices can be taken at either level 2 or level 3. This will depend upon the level of skill you require to do the job. The level 2 apprenticeship usually takes 12 – 15 months to complete; the level 3 24 – 26 months.
Throughout the apprenticeship period our training team will regularly monitor the apprentices to ensure that their training is progressing in line with your and our requirements.
Location
Following an initial induction period, your apprentice will spend one morning/day a week at the centre and the rest of the time in your workplace. However, if this does not suit your needs most of the guidance & assessment can take place in the workplace.
Costs
Cost of training is always an issue, but apprenticeship training is funded by the government through the Learning & Skills Council so it’s free to you and the learner. However, apprentices must be contractually employed by your company on a full-time basis and paid your appropriate company rate of pay. This is your only cost.
Companies that we currently have apprentices with include
First Choice Homes
Mears
Westshield
The Royal Toby Hotel
Hanson Springs
Shopmobility
